The satellite location will in the fourth largest English City of Sheffield, England, cradle of the Industrial Revolution with lots of nearby typical English towns. There are direct flights and trains from other European cities, including Dublin, to Manchester and London, and connections by train and bus from there to Sheffield. Budget accommodation will be available in nearby hotels.
Contributions – Sub-Themes
We welcome research papers, case studies and papers with innovative and practical perspectives on current and forward-looking library leadership in Latin America, The Caribbean (LAC) and the WORLD.
The sub-topics (not exhaustive and not restricted to LAC) are:
- Effective leadership: Leading skills for contemporary and future challenges
- How to inspire: Personal motivation techniques
- Engage: Team building and group work
- Enable: Training leadership strategies
- Connect: Communication skills
How to submit a proposal
Interested professionals are invited to submit a proposal for a paper and presentation of 20 minutes on the topics listed above, as well as poster presentations.
The conference presentations may be given in Spanish or English, there will not be interpreting.
Proposals must contain:
– Email subject line “LACSatellite 2020 Paper Proposal”
– Title of the paper
– Author(s) of the paper
– Paper abstract (300 words maximum)
– Speaker’s name, professional affiliation, postal address, and email address
– Biographical note on the speaker (100 words Maximum)
Paper length will between 10 to 15 pages, and posters standard size will be 24″ x 36″ (60 X 90 cm).

Evaluation process
First phase includes evaluation of abstracts, and Second Phase includes evaluation of full papers. The evaluation will be based on content quality: Pertinence, theoretical base, methodology, or best practice originality. Papers will be uploaded at IFLA repository and if funding is available selected papers will be published as e-book.
No travel funding
IFLA LAC is unfortunately not able to provide travel/conference funding to speakers, so please make sure to have the financial resources to attend WLIC
Important dates:
1 March2020: Deadline to submit abstract proposals
15 March 2020: Notification of abstract acceptance
30 April 2020: Deadline for authors to submit the paper
15 May 2020: Notification of paper acceptance and potential change recommendations
15 June 2020: Final paper submission
12-13 August 2020: Satellite meeting

Please note:
At least one of the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the paper/poster during the Satellite Meeting.
The paper must be an original submission not presented or published elsewhere. All papers that are presented at the WLIC 2020 will be made available online via the IFLA Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.
Authors of accepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form.
All expenses for attending the Satellite Meeting (eg. travel, accommodation, etc.) are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA.
