Theme: "Working together: building strong information structures for sustainable society"
The IFLA Africa Section invites Librarians, Information Scientists and other interested professionals to submit proposals for the Open Forum to be held during the 86th world Library congress from 15-21 August 2020 Dublin, Ireland. In line with the Congress theme, “Inspire, Engage, Enable, connect”, the Africa Section is organising a Session on the theme: “Working together: building strong information structures for sustainable society”.
Introduction
African Libraries play a central role as in today’s information led economic, social and cultural development. Different types of libraries serve as “motors” that drive the creation; access and usage of information and knowledge needed for this societal transformation. Africa section is inviting you to send in your projects, programmes, good practices to show case how Libraries work together in building strong information structures for sustainable society.

Submission guidelines
Full abstracts (in any of IFLA’s official languages) of up to 500 words should be submitted for review by members of the Section. The abstracts (and finished presentation) must be original, previously unpublished work.

The deadline for submitting a detailed abstract, including title and full author details (name, professional affiliation, postal address, email address) is 28 February 2020. Selection of papers is based on the abstract, and presenters will be notified whether they have been successful by 1 April 2020. Completed papers must be submitted no later than 1 June 2020.

1 April 2020: Notification to authors
1 June 2020: Submission of full text
Please note:
At least one of the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the paper during the program in Dublin. Abstracts should only be submitted with the understanding that the expenses of attending the conference will be the responsibility of the author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
The paper must be an original submission not presented or published elsewhere. All papers that are presented at the WLIC 2020 will be made available online via the IFLA Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.
Authors of accepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form.
All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation letter can be issued to author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
